Brazil enjoys one of the youngest demographic profiles of any nation in the world. Recent initiatives by the Brazilian Olympic Committee, the Government and non-governmental organizations to develop youth programs based on Olympic values have had a dramatic impact. This demonstrates the tangible power of sport as a transformation tool for social inclusion and education. As a rapidly developing nation, Brazil has much to gain from the enhancement to educational and youth programs based on values the Olympic Movement is uniquely positioned to provide.

Hi, Maitê. Sports can surely transform values and, as consequence, lives. As a teacher of public state schools I am a witness of how sports change poor children´s behaviours and lives. They finally see themselves as important people when they realize they are good at sth.

Hi, Maitê. I'd say that playing sports is quite interesting. By doing that children or teenagers can develop some social skills such as: being part of a group with a positive objective ,team work , friendship and other feelings. I totally on board with the idea of sport playing an important role in teenagers'lives.
ReplyDeleteHello, people!
ReplyDeleteSports can turn everybody´s life much better in many ways. I am not talking just about physical strength, but also the psychological one. Life gets easier!
Hi everyone =]
ReplyDeleteI do believe that through sports people's lives somehow can be 'touched'...but it will depend on how much effort will be devoted to it.
Hello, everyone!
ReplyDeleteITA with Sheila! Sports can boost their self-esteem, give them a goal and help them stay the course!
Besides boosting self-steem, it also fosters discipline, mutual respect, hierachy recognition, team work and so on, not to mention the encouragement to obey rules, to persist despite defeats... these are values which our society no longer holds dear. Sport should walk hand in hand with education. It can turn out to be an invaluable tool to transform our social context.
ReplyDeleteSport has always been a transformational tool, it is only recently that developing have "woken up" to the fact. It can fulfill its role though, only if it aimed at making responsbile men and women, not just medal-winning machines.
